West Louisville business sues its insurance company for denying protester damage claim

A west Louisville business damaged during racial justice protests filed a lawsuit against its insurance company. Dino’s Food Mart was closed in June 2020 when it was set on fire during protests at 26th and West Broadway.After the fire was put out, the owners claim some protesters had broken in and looted the business. They filed a claim, but said their insurance company has refused to make any payments. Dino’s is suing for breach of contract, bad faith, and violating the unfair claims settlement act.
