Kent entrepreneur leaves teaching as cake pops business booms

Daisy Pops owner Amy Mucha shows off some of the cake pops that  her Kent business produces.

The COVID-19 pandemic was a fork in the road for Amy Mucha. No, make that a spatula. 

That’s where she exited her path as a full-time educator to concentrate on running her Daisy Pops bakery, which she had launched as a side gig in 2018.

Still employing the smarts that she had put to work teaching math, Mucha is now looking to relocate from her own kitchen in Kent to a storefront to accommodate the multiplying demand for her cake pops 

Daisy Pops sold 113,000 cake pops in 2021, she said — compared to 13,000 in 2018.
